Bird Control Methods

Bird control is an umbrella term for methods to deter birds from roosting, nesting and landing at a particular location, there are a wide variety of methods available including:

This is where netting and spikes are installed to prevent birds from gaining access to a particular location or to prevent them from being able to land.

This is where trained birds of prey such as Harris Hawks are flown around a particular location to scare the birds away.  Repeated visits from the Hawks and handler lets the resident birds know the area is not a safe place for them and they move on to other locations.

Chemical deterrents

Whilst restrictions are rightfully in place for chemical products which intend to kill birds there are many other options that are not harmful such as taste aversion products and fogging agents suited to birds.

Sonic deterrents

These deterrents produce audible sounds designed to deter birds from the location.  The sounds would include bird distress calls and predator calls.

Ultrasonic deterrents

These devices produce ultrasonic waves which are not audible to the human ear but do fall within the hearing ranges of most species of birds, while not harmful the waves are enough to discourage bird from entering the location but are not always effective.
